Sharks Bring the 2004 Haribo Cup Home in Front of a Sheffield Crowd
On 11 January 2004, the Sheffield Sharks delivered a memorable performance on home court to capture the BBL Cup, defeating the Scottish Rocks 83–70 at the Hallam FM Arena.
With thousands of Sharks supporters packed into the arena, Sheffield rose to the occasion on one of the biggest stages in British basketball, lifting the trophy in front of their own fans and adding another major honour to the club’s growing legacy.
Known during that era as the Haribo Cup, the competition represented one of the premier trophies in the British game — and the Sharks made sure it was staying in South Yorkshire.
A Big-Game Performance
From the opening tip, Sheffield played with energy, confidence, and intensity, feeding off the atmosphere inside the Hallam FM Arena.
The Sharks controlled large stretches of the game with disciplined defence and efficient offence, refusing to allow the Rocks to build sustained momentum. Every Scottish push was met with another Sheffield response as the home side gradually established control of the Final.
Leading the way was H.L. Coleman.
Coleman produced a superb all-around display under the bright lights, finishing with 22 points and delivering one big play after another as the Sharks pulled away during the second half.
His composure and scoring ability proved decisive in helping Sheffield maintain separation from the Rocks, and his performance earned him deserved MVP honours.
The Cup Returns to Sheffield
As the game entered its closing stages, the Sharks remained firmly in command, eventually securing an emphatic 83–70 victory to spark celebrations around the arena.
Winning silverware in front of a home crowd made the triumph even more special for everyone connected with the club. The Hallam FM Arena erupted at the final buzzer as players, coaches, and supporters celebrated together after another unforgettable chapter in Sharks history.
