John Amaechi delivered a stunning individual performance, scoring 40 points to claim the MVP award. The game was sealed by a memorable game-winning shot from Terrell Myers.
The victory was the first major trophy under Head Coach Chris Finch, who had taken over earlier that season, and served as a foundation for the dominant 1998-99 campaign that followed.
